Wiel Jacops finished his MA degree in 'International Relations in Historical Perspective' at Utrecht University this summer. His blog about counterinsurgency during the South African War stems from his thesis, which he wrote under supervision of 'Securing Europe' researcher dr. Ozan Ozavci. His thesis was largely based on archival sources found in the South African National Archives Repository in Pretoria. Wiel is currently in the running for a research position at the Dutch Institute for Military History.
