Agenda

Wouter Klem at conference ‘Policing Connections: Atlantic histories and Global Perspectives’

Wouter Klem will deliver a presentation at the conference Policing Connections: Atlantic histories and Global Perspectives, that will be held at the Pontifícia Universidade Católica in Rio the Janeiro, on 19-21 June 2017. The conference will focus on the transnational circulation of police models, techniques of identification and transnational surveillance networks. The paper Klem will present uncovers how the anarchist threat catalysed police experts to engage in a transnational, epistemic network, and how these experts succeeded in standardising and institutionalising their best practices, in spite of national(ist) reluctance towards international cooperation, between the 1880s and 1914.
