Ozan Ozavci at the European University Institute at Florence

Ozan Ozavci has been invited by the European University Institute at Florence to attend the workshop “‘Empires after the global ‘turn’: planned migrations, colonial agents and informal colonialism, c.1800-c.1950” as a round-table discussant on 1-2 June 2017. The participants of the workshop will discuss alternative narratives of modern colonialism, looking beyond spheres of conquest and coercion for evidence of other forms of European colonial influence and other types of colonizing countries, and to include parts of the globe (Latin America, North Africa, the Pacific Ocean) that were involved in colonial expansion without always being subjected to direct or immediate colonial rule.
